We list 108 education providers. Of these, 32 are schools: 14 government schools and 18 private schools. The government schools are 11 primary schools and 3 high schools, and all 14 follow the Cayman Islands National Curriculum. Around them sit 22 early childhood centres, 8 special education providers, 6 higher education institutions, 1 further education centre, 14 vocational training providers and 25 tutoring and activity providers.
Private schools vary most by curriculum. Seven follow an English or British curriculum (Island Montessori combines this with Montessori), six follow a US-based curriculum and three use Montessori. Thirteen private schools teach at secondary level and four offer a sixth form, so if you are planning for A Levels or the IB Diploma, check that a school covers the full age range before you enrol.
The OES inspects schools and early childhood centres and judges them on a four-point scale: Excellent, Good, Satisfactory or Weak. Of the 51 providers in this directory with a published OES rating, 6 are Excellent, 21 Good, 20 Satisfactory and 4 Weak. Among government schools, 6 are rated Good and 8 Satisfactory.
A rating is a snapshot from one inspection, so always look at the report month. Most of the reports we hold (47 of 51) date from 2024 onwards, but a few are older. Each listing links to the full OES report, which explains what a school does well and what it has been asked to improve.
George Town has the most choice by far, with 68 providers, including 20 of the 32 schools and 14 of the 22 early childhood centres. West Bay has 9, Bodden Town 4, East End 2 and North Side 1. On the Sister Islands there are 5: four on Cayman Brac and one on Little Cayman. Nineteen providers have no single district on record.
If the school run matters, browse by district first, then narrow by stage and rating.
Browse by stage for nurseries, primary, secondary, special education, further study or tutoring, or by district to see everything near home. Fees appear only where a provider publishes them; six private schools do. Five quote 2026-27 fees in Cayman dollars, from CI$13,495 to CI$30,700 a year depending on school and year group.
Once you have a place, the school essentials section lists 146 local businesses for uniforms, printing, books and stationery, devices, lunches, transport and parties. Every listing shows the date we last checked it and the sources we used.
