Curriculum is the first big choice
Seven schools follow the English or British National Curriculum, including Cayman Prep & High School, St. Ignatius Catholic School and Footsteps School. Six use a US-based curriculum, among them Hope Academy and Grace Christian Academy. Three are Montessori schools.
If you are thinking about exams after 16, the options narrow. Cayman Prep & High, St. Ignatius and CF School list A Levels, and Cayman International School is the only one offering the IB Diploma. Calvary Baptist Christian Academy and Wesleyan Christian Academy use Abeka and Accelerated Christian Education (ACE), and Cayman Academy lists CXC/CSEC.
Age ranges, faith and location
Nine schools teach up to age 18, and six of these also take children in the early years. Others stop earlier: Footsteps and Island Primary at 11 to 13, and Montessori By The Sea and Village Montessori at 12. Twelve of the 18 take children in the early years.
Half of the schools have a religious affiliation, including Baptist, Catholic, Seventh-day Adventist and Church of God schools. Sixteen are in George Town and two, Grace Christian Academy and Wesleyan Christian Academy, are in West Bay.
Fees and OES ratings
Six schools publish annual fees. For 2026-27 these run from CI$13,495 for Nursery to Year 6 at St. Ignatius to CI$30,700 for Grades 11 and 12 at Cayman International School. Published fees may not cover extras: Cayman Prep & High, for example, charges PTA levy, laptop and exam fees on top, so ask for the full cost.
Four schools are rated Excellent by OES: Cayman International School (September 2022), Island Montessori (November 2024), St. Ignatius (November 2024) and Montessori By The Sea (November 2025). Six are rated Good, six Satisfactory and one Weak. Island Primary, which opened in 2023, has no OES report yet. Compare report dates as well as grades.
