What George Town offers at each stage
George Town has the widest choice on the islands. Our listing includes 14 early childhood centres, 16 private schools and four government schools: Marie Martin, Prospect and Red Bay primary schools, and John Gray High School.
For older students, Cayman Prep & High School, St. Ignatius Catholic School, Cayman International School and CF School all run a sixth form. The Cayman Islands Further Education Centre offers BTEC courses, and the University College of the Cayman Islands and Truman Bodden Law School are also based in the district.
Curriculum and inspection ratings
Private schools here follow different systems. Seven list an English or British curriculum, six follow a US-based or Christian programme, and three are Montessori schools, with Island Montessori pairing Montessori with the English National Curriculum. Prospect Primary School teaches the IB Primary Years Programme alongside the national curriculum.
Six George Town providers hold an Excellent judgement from the Office of Education Standards (OES): Cayman International School (September 2022), St. Ignatius Catholic School and Island Montessori (November 2024), Sprogs Garden Playschool (June 2025), Montessori By The Sea (November 2025) and Little Trotters Farm & Nursery School (March 2026). Four are currently rated Weak, so read the full report and its date before you decide.
Government catchments and published fees
Government school places follow street catchments set by the Department of Education Services, not district lines. The Marie Martin, Red Bay and Prospect primary catchments cover George Town as far east as Spotts-Newlands Road and Chime Street, and all three fall within John Gray High School's catchment. The department states that out-of-catchment placements will not be considered for family logistics due to traffic.
Where private schools publish fees, they vary widely. For 2026-27, St. Ignatius lists CI$13,495 a year for Nursery to Year 6, while Cayman International School lists up to CI$30,700 for Grades 11-12. Tutors and coaches without a fixed base also appear on the site, and families in every district can use them.
