Public and private options
Four of the seven are public. UCCI is the only public university college and offers associate, bachelor's and master's degrees, diplomas and certificates, and Year 12 dual enrolment. The UWI Global Campus, the local site of the regional University of the West Indies, shares the UCCI campus and offers distance and blended degrees.
The Truman Bodden Law School, founded in 1982, is government-owned and offers the LLB awarded by the University of Liverpool, along with the Professional Practice Course. The Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC) is the government's post-16 centre for Year 12 students and teaches BTEC courses.
Specialist and private institutions
St. Matthew's University is a private, US-affiliated medical and veterinary school offering MD and DVM programmes. The International College of the Cayman Islands is a private college offering associate, bachelor's and master's degrees, including an MBA, as well as certificates and GED preparation. Northwestern Caribbean Baptist Theological Seminary is listed as a tertiary institution in the July 2026 government register.
None of these institutions publishes fees in our data, so contact each one directly for current tuition.
Choosing where to study
Start with the qualification you need. A school leaver wanting a local degree will usually compare UCCI and the International College. Someone aiming for law, medicine or veterinary practice has one local route each. For Year 12 students, CIFEC and UCCI dual enrolment are both on the list.
Only CIFEC has an Office of Education Standards rating in our data: Good, in November 2025. The universities have no OES rating listed, so ask each institution who awards or accredits its degrees.
