What the 22 early childhood centres look like

Fourteen of the 22 centres are in George Town, five in West Bay, two in Bodden Town and one on Cayman Brac. All but one are privately run. The exception is Cayman Brac Day Care Centre, which is run by the Cayman Brac District Administration for children aged six months to three years.

Eighteen centres follow the Cayman Islands Early Years Curriculum, often alongside a play-based approach. Three are Montessori settings: Montessori del Sol, Montessori School of Cayman and Montessori West. Kiddiewinks Garden Playschool in West Bay offers Spanish immersion.

Nursery, daycare or preschool: check the age range

The names overlap, so the age range tells you more than the label. Six centres take babies under one year old, including Bloom Learning Centre, Discovery Kids and Kiddie Cove Early Learning Center, which accept children from six weeks. Most others start between 12 and 18 months, and a few, such as St. George's Preschool and The Achievement Centre, start at two.

Centres also differ in size. Where OES has published a roll, numbers range from 33 children at Bloom to 112 at Tiny Tots Academy.

How OES ratings compare across centres

Eighteen centres have a published OES judgement. Two are rated Excellent: Little Trotters Farm & Nursery School (March 2026) and Sprogs Garden Playschool (June 2025). Seven are rated Good, six Satisfactory and three Weak. Four newer centres, including Montessori West and Sprouts by Discovery Kids, have no OES report yet.

Check the report date as well as the grade. A rating from early 2025 may not reflect a change of staff or premises since. Reading the full report, linked from each listing, shows what inspectors praised and what they asked the centre to improve.

Fees and funding

Only two centres in our data publish fees. Kiddie Cove lists CI$895 to CI$1,095 a month for five full days, and Bloom lists CI$1,299 to CI$1,349 a month for a full day. For other centres, ask for the monthly fee, what it includes, and whether part-time places are available.

Caymanian families may be able to get help through the government's Early Childhood Assistance Programme (ECAP), which is means-tested. See the questions below for details.
