What to check on the PE kit list
Schools usually set out exactly what children wear for PE: a T-shirt in a house or school colour, shorts, socks and a particular style of trainer. Some lists include swimwear, a swim cap or a water bottle. Buy what the list asks for rather than a full sports wardrobe.
If your child joins a club or school team, ask the coach before buying boots, shin pads or specialist equipment. Teams sometimes have their own kit, and the coach can advise on the right size and type.
What the listings cover
Of the eight listings, six are sports shops: on Google Maps they include sportswear shops, a sporting goods shop and a football shop. Hot Zone Sports appears twice because it has a George Town and a West Bay location. One shop also sells shoes and bags.
The two toy listings are The Toy Shoppe and Book Nook, which sells toys and games as well as books. Every listing has a phone number and four have websites.
Timing and fit
Sports shops get busy before the new school year starts in August and again before the January term. Buying early gives you more sizes to choose from. Children often need a second set of PE kit for days with back-to-back sports, so it is worth buying two of the basics. Label every item, as PE kit is easily mixed up in changing rooms.
Trainers and boots should be fitted with the socks your child will wear. Leave a little room for growth, but not so much that the shoe slips at the heel, which can cause blisters and falls.

Start with your school's PE kit list, which usually sets out the colour of T-shirt, shorts, socks and the style of trainers.
